The Gippsland Innovation Statement
Innovation is about making good ideas happen. While traditional definitions focus exclusively on business and technology, we recognise that innovation occurs throughout our region in business, community and government. Gippsland is one of Australia’s great regions.
We are known for abundant natural resources, beautiful country and resilient communities. Our future depends on innovative and dynamic businesses that can access a skilled and capable workforce. By embracing innovation, we seek positive change.
We want Gippslanders to enjoy a higher standard of living, more satisfying and rewarding jobs and a better environment in which to live, work and raise their families.
Our population of over 210,000 people is growing. We live in an area covering nearly 20% of the State of Victoria. Innovation is the key to sustainable development in our region.
An innovative culture encourages excellence and achievement without compromising tolerance and respect for each other. We the undersigned commit to developing and supporting innovation throughout Gippsland. We:
- Help people become better leaders and encourage entrepreneurship.
- Recognise the importance of innovation in sustainable economic, environmental and community development.
- Foster innovation in our communities, schools and businesses
- Unite as a region to celebrate innovation through Innovation Gippsland.
